Review: Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Obsidian (A Lux Novel) (Entangled Teen) - Jennifer L. Armentrout

Summary:

Starting over sucks. When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring...until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up. And then he opened his mouth. Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens. The hot alien living next door marks me. You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. If I don't kill him first, that is.

My opinion:

This is the first book of the Lux series. I thought I would be a great idea if I reviewed the first one first and then review the series as a whole when I'm finished with it.

Obsidian reminded me so much of Twilight! But than with aliens instead of vampires. There were so many similarities that it was crazy! Boy has supernatural powers, girl falls for him and isn't even afraid of him.. girls go promshopping.. boy is something annoying and not that perfect.. most beautiful sister of him is going to best friends with the main character.. a jealous girl.. moving to an unknown city...etc. But I liked this book so much more though! I think that's because of the characters.

Katy is the main character and she has a bookblog, so she loves books. And she is actually very funny! She says to Daemon the things she doesn't like about it and is sometimes very sarcastic. So she's not that annoying like Bella. But Daemon is still a badass and I didn't like the way he treated her sometimes. That is just not good in relationship! And Because of that I couldn't give this book 5 stars. Overall it was really fast paced and I just couldn't put this book down! If you want to read something this light (when you have school and want a break from thinking) you should definitely pick up this book!

I know I'm not the only one who does not like these covers. The old ones aren't actually not that bad, but when I wanted to buy them they weren't available anymore. Which is a bummer! And even if it is: they didn't publish the last book in the old cover style, so that sucks. But the story is great so that's why I just read this series on my ereader.
