Review: A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
Summary:
The monster showed up just after midnight. But it isn't the monster Conor's been expecting. He's been expecting the one from his nightmare, the one he's had nearly every night since his mother started her treatments. The monster in his back garden, though, this monster is something different. Something ancient, something wild.
My opinion:
This was a sad story! Is about a boy with a mum who is really ill and when his classmates find out about it they are going to bully him and his dad has a new family, so he hasn't seen him in a while and he doesn't like his grandma etc. I don't think I have to talk about it more, because the less you know, the better.
But the ending was really confusing. Did she die or not? If you know the answer, please answer that in the comments. This is what I thought:
(show spoiler)Overall this was a really good book (and a little creepy as well). It's not exactly a horror story, but the pictures made it like it was. I gave it 5 stars just because the writing style was brilliant and the storyline was fascinating as well.
Have you read A Monster Calls?
