Review: Vicious by V. E. Schwab

VIcious - V.E. Schwab

Goodreads summary:

Victor and Eli started out as college roommates—brilliant, arrogant, lonely boys who recognized the same sharpness and ambition in each other. In their senior year, a shared research interest in adrenaline, near-death experiences, and seemingly supernatural events reveals an intriguing possibility: that under the right conditions, someone could develop extraordinary abilities. But when their thesis moves from the academic to the experimental, things go horribly wrong. Ten years later, Victor breaks out of prison, determined to catch up to his old friend (now foe), aided by a young girl whose reserved nature obscures a stunning ability. Meanwhile, Eli is on a mission to eradicate every other super-powered person that he can find—aside from his sidekick, an enigmatic woman with an unbreakable will. Armed with terrible power on both sides, driven by the memory of betrayal and loss, the archnemeses have set a course for revenge—but who will be left alive at the end?

My opinion:

I absolutely loved this book! It was creepy (it was mainly about dead and rising from the dead), supernatural-ish and about superheroes. The fact that this was a mystery as well means that it was a perfect read for October. It reminded me of Supernatural, but it has his own elements in his and it was still quite different and unique as well. I finished it right before I went to sleep last night and I may or may not have dreamt about it and it was creepy, lol. I have nothing bad to say about it, except for the fact that I don't think I'm going to re-read it at some point because then it won't be mysterious etc. anymore. This book has everything I want in a book: action, mysterey and no romance. I mean, there is some romance in it but that's not the main case in this story. Oh and I also loved the flashbacks in this story!

If you're looking for a creepy halloween book, but still not too creepy but interesting enough that you want to keep reading: read this book!

I cannot wait to read the sequel (when that one comes out)
