Review: If I Stay and Where She Went by Gayle Forman
I just finished Whe She Went and wow! So I want to do a review of this duology.
Summary If I Stay:
On a day that started like any other, Mia had everything: a loving family, a gorgeous, admiring boyfriend, and a bright future full of music and full of choices. In an instant, almost all of that is taken from her. Caught between life and death, between a happy past and an unknowable future, Mia spends one critical day contemplating the only decision she has left. It is the most important decision she'll ever make.
Simultaneously tragic and hopeful, this is a romantic, riveting, and ultimately uplifting story about memory, music, living, dying, loving
Summary Where She Went:
I can't do a summary of this book because of spoilers, but this is a book about her boyfriend Adam years after the accident.
My opinion:
I loved Where She Went more than If I Stay. In If I Stay you see the past of Mia and the other chapter of her present life, so with flashbacks and those were a little bit boring. But with if I stay you can just see the present with some thoughts of the past which was perfectly. In Where She Went something else was really interesting and it was good that thing was mentioned in the book: the hope of love. Adam did not give up on being happy and finding love and that's what's so important these days. Many teenagers think it's hard to find a perfect guy or a perfect girl so they lost hope but this book shows that it really exist. I also loved the music think in this duology and the fact that these two kids were underdogs in high school but are big musicans later, at least with Adam (I'm not going to spoil anything haha).
The fun thing is that I wanted to read these books before I even found out about the movie and when I added it on my tbr-pile on Goodreads video reactions of the trailer popped out on YouTube. At the same day! That was really funny haha. But I still haven't seen the movie because it came out just a week or so (in my country) which sucks. Here's the trailer in case you haven't seen it (but I'm sure you all have):
So I gave If I Stay 4 stars because of the boring flashbacks and I gave Where She Went 5 stars because it was that good!
Have you read If I Stay and Where She Went and did you like it as much as I do? Have you seen the movie already?
